Heywood Gardens Tours.
We really cannot think of anyone more suited to guide us on a walk through Heywood Gardens, than Amanda Pitcairn, the great granddaughter of Edwin Lutyens.
Amanda returned to full time education in 2010 and graduated with a BA Hons in History and English(First Class). She then went on to complete her MPhil in Public History and Cultural Heritage at TrinityCollege Dublin. Her MPhil thesis focused on the missing regalia of the Kings of Leinster.
Amanda runs the hugely successful Touch The Past – Walking tours of historic sites in Ireland’s Ancient East such as Kilkenny city, Kells Priory, Jerpoint Abbey, Ferns, Borris Village, Carlow Town and Clonmacnoise.
The tours will feature aspects of the life of one of the 18th and 19th century’s most eminent architects, and his work in Ireland, with added focus on Heywood Gardens, which Lutyens designed for Colonel William Hutchinson Poe.
Saturday 24th August at 12:00 and 14:30.
Sunday 25th August at 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00.
All tours are available as part of a package which includes talks by David Averill, Lutyens Trust, Dr. Matthew Jebb, Botanic Gardens, and Afternoon Tea!
